Maine CPCU Chapter wins cash prize in Champion Recruiting Contest

Dear Maine Chapter Officers:

Congratulations! Your chapter won the $150 second place prize (Medium/Small Chapters) in the 2009 Chapter Champion Recruiting Contest!

Winners were determined based on their Champion recruiting scores, using the number of members from a chapter who signed up as a new Champion since July 1, 2008.  Five points were awarded for every new Champion employed at an organization that did not previously have a Champion (as of July 2008), and for each recently (2007-9) designated new Champion (a maximum of ten points if a new Champion met both criteria). New Champions at organizations that already had one or more Champions counted for 1 point each. The top two scoring chapters in the jumbo and large chapter categories were awarded the first ($300) and second place ($150) prizes, and the same for the top two chapters in the medium and small chapter categories.

Thank you for all of your work and support for this important initiative. Your checks will be processed soon, and mailed to your chapter. Please contact me if you have any questions.

Sincerely,
Suzanne Kinsler
Marketing and Sales Director
CPCU Society

August 2009 Champion Spotlight

Across the country in South Portland Maine, Emily S. McEntee, CPCU is the Sales and Client Services Manager of Amica’s Maine Regional Office and a CPCU Champion. Emily is a past president of the Maine CPCU Chapter and served on the chapter’s board for five years. She remains active in her chapter, attending all chapter meetings and working in support of the chapter’s fund raising events. Emily mentors candidates inside and outside of Amica, and actively encourages the employees in her office to take advantage of Amica’s generous support for enrollment in CPCU and IIA courses. In fact, she is a role model for others in her office. In addition to her CPCU designation, Emily has also completed the Institutes’ AMIM and API courses, and recently wrapped up the AIC program.

Emily’s enthusiasm for continuing insurance education is shared by CPCU Champion Catherine A. Franks, CPCU, Resident Vice President in Amica’s Hartford Regional Office who says, “I am a big proponent of all continuing education, particularly courses such as INS, API and CPCU. We have several representatives involved in the CPCU program and their accomplishments are always highlighted in the office. I always invite anyone involved in CPCU to attend any pertinent meeting and support the attendance of all current CPCUs at technical and leadership seminars where they can be exposed to others with the designation in the industry. I also ‘preach’ that exposure to, and learning about, the broad range of topics covered in insurance education increases knowledge and adds to Amica’s service edge.”
